Mariam started Challenge for Change out of her deep conviction that Education is the one and only way to make change in any developing country. She is passionate about social development, applied science and manufacturing. A strong believer in the interface between art, science and technology, her dream is to use the three to eliminate illiteracy, poverty, and hunger in Africa. Mariam started doing “real work” early, by interning in her family’s practice since the age of 11. While in college, she interned in 4 countries in 3 continents and gained experience in various fields including R&D, Oil & Gas, Consumer Products, Product Design, and Manufacturing. She is a partner at Mamiba Hotel Supplies and its Director of Marketing and Business Development. Mariam volunteers as a consultant at the Ministry of Planning of Egypt and serves in the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Cairo as the Ambassador for both 1/1000 Network, Thought for Food Challenge and as a member of the Global Shapers Community (World Economic Forum). Mariam is fluent in French, English and Arabic, she’s an amateur artist and loves animals, especially dogs.
